Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, with 160 Silman employees also in Washington, DC, Boston, and Ann Arbor, Mich., now added to the TYLI staff of 3,200.

He had been chair of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech, which UC-Irvine says has nearly 2,400 students and a $100-million annual budget. Egerstedt's research has focused on control theory and robotics and remote environmental monitoring.
