The joint venture ofBalfour BeattyandSamet Corp.recently celebrated the topping out of Forsyth County’s new courthouse building in Winston Salem, N.C. Keeping with tradition, project team members and partners signed their names on the uppermost steel beam, which was then placed on the roof level of the new courthouse. The joint venture team started construction on the 250,679-sq-ft facility in early 2021. The building will feature 18 judicial spaces and provide improved security, accessibility and technologies. The joint venture's design partners includeCJMW Architecture,SLAM,Lynch MykinsandO’Brien Atkins.

“This is a special moment for us,” said Ken Grube, regional vice president for Samet. “It’s amazing to see what our entire project team inclusive of our joint venture, Forsyth County, designers and particularly our trade partners have been able to accomplish to date.” The project is scheduled for completion by spring 2023.

Kaufman Lynn Constructionrecently broke ground on Brightline's latest train station project in Boca Raton, Fla. The 1.8-acre site will include a passenger station featuring an 8,400-sq-ft concrete structure to house a security area, market space, seating area, lounges and a 12,900-sq-ft concrete platform. The onsite 4.5-level, 171,000-sq-ft parking garage will be a precast concrete structure equipped with approximately 455 spaces, including 64 spaces for the adjacent library. In addition, the site will offer 12 electric vehicle parking spaces, bicycle spaces for both long-term and short-term storage and six drop-off parking spaces in front of the train station. There will also be a service yard and access road constructed to streamline station operations. The contractor expects to complete construction by the end of 2022.

Novant Healthand contractorRobins & Mortonreached structural completion at the new Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center and Medical Office Building in Charlotte on Feb. 14.
